Make sure you completely wrap the motors
Drilling of the motors
Drill through the exact center on both ends of the film canister?Waxing of the motors
Epoxy of the propellers
- Put tape to cover the bottom of the film canister?
- Fill the canister with ¼ of melted wax?
- Gently Place the motor in the canister?
- Fill the rest of the canister with hot wax?
- Place the cap on the canister (make sure to flip the canister over when putting on the cap so wax does not spit back at you) ?
- Wipe off the motor?
- Let the freshly waxed motors sit over night to harden
- Sand the shaft on the motor once the wax has sat for awhile?
- Rub epoxy on the motor shaft?
- Place the propeller shaft on the motor shaft?
- Place a nut on the propeller shaft?
- Place the propeller on the propeller shaft?
- Screw on another nut to secure the propeller?
- Tighten the nut down tightly?
- Put more epoxy over the nut (make sure you have all your materials ready before you begin the epoxy because the epoxy will set in 2-3 minutes)
- Let the motors sit for a few minutes so they can set?
- Once the propellers are dry scrap off any an excess epoxy that will effect the propellers spinning
Attaching of the motors
Some questions to think about are what will be affected by the placement of the motors.
What will happen if you stick the motors out straight?
What will happen if you tilt then all in towards the middle?
What will happen if you tilt the motors outward from the robot?
