PWCS SEAPerch ROV Competition Day

Request for Volunteers
On April 26. 2008 Prince William County Schools will hold an 80 team Underwater Competition Event hosted at George Mason University, Fairfax Campus. Volunteres should plan to arrive at 7:45am and should finish at 3:00pm. The event will have teams from the Foundations of Technology course from across the Prince William County High School’s. Teams will compete for the “Top Underwater Robotics Team” award, the “Innovation Design Award”, the best Research Paper and many more awards.
In order to make the event successful approximately 120 volunteers will be required. Adults with many skills will be helpful for a successful event. Please commit carefully, as we will need to be present for an entire day and attend a planning meeting in advance – April 10, 2008 7pm. We are looking for people that would like to:
Work with the Underwater Games:
- Lane Referee - time the robot race and validate the team follows the rules
- Floating Referee - relieve standard lane referee
- Lane Reset Swimmer - reposition game pieces between matches, requries person to be in the pool
- Diver - untangle teethers, need scuba gear
- Team Queuing Manager - line up students to games

“Manage” the Day:
- Check In / Information Desk
- Score Keeper - enter scores into scoring program
- Announcer - announce the games, one required for each game
- Safety Patrol - make sure people are safe as they work on their robots
- Photographer
- Videographer

On the registration form, you will be asked for an UNDO password; this is a password that you establish, so that if for any reason you need to "no longer volunteer", you can remove your name.
